Although the results of the investigation surrounding the Galaxy Note 7 has not yet been revealed, a source cited by Reuters reveals that the battery would be the single defective component. The design of the smartphone would, therefore, not in question, and Samsung would be able to reproduce the combustions in its laboratories.
If this is confirmed, this conclusion would contradict the investigations carried out by independent bodies. All have highlighted the design too compact device. Usually a battery may need to be 0.5 mm for evolution, in the Galaxy Note 7 this space would only be 0.1 / 0.3 mm. To abound in the sense of independent organizations, the replacement of the batteries on the new versions have not prevented the unit from igniting.
One thing is for sure, Samsung intends to complete this matter prior to the presentation of the Galaxy S8. Koh Dong-jin head of division, Samsung Mobile will give more explanations on the 23rd of January next.
