Inducted in the past year on the concept Gripz, a new generation of engine arrives today of series for Nissan. In Japan, the manufacturer has just unveiled a Note “e-Power”, that is to say driven by an electric motor with a range extender.
More need to recharge the batteries
The small mpv borrows its powertrain with its cousin, the Nissan Leaf, and adds a small block gasoline that is not used to drive the wheels but only to recharge the batteries, advertised as smaller than those of the Leaf. A technology already seen on the Opel Ampera, the Chevrolet Volt and the BMW i3 Rex (Range Extender). But unlike its predecessors, the japanese model does not need to outlet or terminal to recharge his batteries. The small petrol engine is sufficient. Has condition to do the full course…
All the benefits of an electric vehicle
For the moment, Nissan has not yet announced the power consumption or the autonomy of the Note “e-Power”. The firm ensures, however, that this technology allows to have the same fuel efficiency than a hybrid vehicle, while offering all the advantages (smooth driving, torque is fully available from the start…) but not the disadvantages (difficulty in finding a charging station in particular) of a 100% electric car. Appointment probably in 2017 to judge on piece…
In the meantime, check out the Nissan Note e-Power video.
