Slow pace of the refunds, and discouragement of employees

A study conducted for the account of the software company Unit4 seems to indicate that if the employees do not require the full repayment of their notes of expenses, it is because they deem the amount too low. This is yet 600 million euros that are not claimed by France. And nearly 8.7 billion in the United States! And the reasons are not only to be put on the account of negligence. In fact, a quarter of respondents insisted on the cumbersome procedures of reimbursement, which discourages them from making the approach. The same proportion of workers report having to wait over a month between the request and the actual payment. Discouraged, many of them end up not claim and end up sometimes in a difficult financial situation. This is the case for 24% of French employees who attribute the cause of this lack of reimbursement. In addition, 23% of them have the feeling that the employer takes away a financial advantage at their expense.

The survey also reveals that 34% of the French use of spreadsheets to perform these tasks, which takes more time than an online tool, and harm productivity. The scanning of expense allows 43% of the respondents to make their claim in less than 15 minutes.

The study, conducted by KDS also indicates that 78% of employees say they have ever cheated on their expense. For the remaining 22%, “rather, it is for them to refund the notes that they have lost or the amount of which, too weak, has not been the subject of an application”, explains Alain Joyet, a sociologist of business, who has analyzed the study. It would therefore be rather a compensation than a simple cheating. Compensation to put it also on the account of the annoyance of the employees as to the complexity of the reimbursement system and, in particular, the calculation of the VAT that they have to do it themselves. Nearly 60% of respondents are annoyed.
