This large, very large, pen smartphone is appealing. High resolution, camera / video exceptional, taking handwritten notes … What convert many to the Phablet! We tested it extensively.
Samsung has become year after year the reference builder for “phablettes” these great smartphones intermediate in size between a conventional mobile terminal (4 inches) and a mini tablet (7 inches). The new model Galaxy Note 4 that we could test for a fortnight resumes pretty much external measurements of its older Galaxy Note 3. It is equipped with a screen of 5.7 inches diagonally. But instead of Super AMOLED Full HD 1920 x 1080 Note 3 Note 4 the benefits it a Super AMOLED WQHD 2560 x 1440 (515 ppi), or 78% more pixels than what is not negligible.

Perfect for Netflix, ideal for car GPS
With such exceptional display, needless to say that the Note 4 is perfectly suitable as video player. We were stuck for minutes on Netflix app after launching a new episode of Breaking Bad. The dimension “pleasure” and entertainment is present in this ideal for mobile professionals on the go. Same impression of quality and performance for a more utilitarian use: GPS auto with Waze: large clear, bright cards, easier navigation when you are driving. Not sure that onboard GPS can render greater service.
Another novelty introduced by the Galaxy Note 4: the fingerprint reader. Like the iPhone 5s and 6 it is housed in the main button. But unlike TouchID he had not used just by pressing one of the fingers on the button but referenced by dragging it. The recognition is performed in two steps: pressing the button and sliding the bottom-centered finger on the button. A very effective S Pen for Action Notes
A Phablet it’s big, it’s wide. And is therefore used in general with both hands. So why not enjoy the S Pen! It is integrated into the housing Note 4 (such as Note 3). In addition, it would be very distracting for the lost. An alert tone sounds and a message appears on the screen when you move off the Phablet without having placed the pen in its slot. Compared to the previous generation, the S Pen has been improved in sensitivity (2048 levels of pressure).

Another good surprise was the ultimately not so reduced autonomy with battery 3220 mAH (exchangeable). Without implementing the various saving devices, the Phablet takes about right over the period of a day. But not much more.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 operates on Android 4.4.4 KitKat. The Lollipop to 5.0 update is expected but Samsung seems to take longer than expected to adapt its overlay TouchWizz. It will probably have to wait several weeks.
Cheaper than the iPhone 6 Plus 16GB
There remains the very high price that is daunting: between 650 and 750 euros TTC naked without engagement, according to distributors. Note that the Galaxy Note 4 exists only in a single storage capacity of 32 GB (plus the misroSD harbor up to 128 GB). But this price may seem therefore is less than that of the Apple iPhone 6 More entry (16 GB).
