Why “Not even Fear”?
I was working for a while on a second part of “Khaos” but in France, as the implementation of the austerity policy is not only Greek. Events have collided this film. So I took the camera faster than expected, that is to say from January 12 to start the film “The Day After” because what impacted me was the crystallization fears. The fear of the future caused by the crisis which also affects the risk of exacerbating France and be transformed into a fear of others, thus creating a stronger social cleavage. My angle is oriented towards different forms of societal fears and the responses to them.
Why not wait?
For the experience of “Khaos” showed that ‘there is a real need for reactive documentary cinema. With more than 20,000 spectators and more than 80 debates across France, “Khaos” is even today, three years later, programmed room.
The film does not directly address the dramatic events of January 2015. It is about addressing existing issues in our society but which have been highlighted by dramatic events. It is urgent to benefit from a documentary support room that leads to reflection, to provide answers and a solid tool to cope with future changes that may ensue. The emergency documentary is another form of documentary that is not represented today in France, except with “Khaos”.
Why the title “Fear Not even!”
For the word childish connotation as “pretty well” to the final notes of true underlying fear. It sounds like a shield against the unacceptable. It is important to put words on our fears before they become spooky. So we’re talking here of outsourcing in order to face the front issues.
