La France “takes note of the result” of Sunday’s referendum in Congo on the adoption of a new Constitution which enables the President Denis Sassou Nguesso to run again in 2016, said the French Foreign Ministry.
“We take note of the result, “commented laconically spokesman of the Quai d’Orsay, Romain Nadal. The new Congolese Constitution draft was approved by 92.96% of the vote and a turnout of 72.44%, according to official results announced Tuesday, and immediately denounced by the opposition as a “cheating”.
