Takeshi Obata and Tsugumi Ohba , the duo behind Death Note and Bakuman , launched their new series manga, Platinum End , a story of angels and humans have new powers by these early, which strongly recalls their first hit. . Here is our opinion after the first three chapters
After a few pages of Platinum End, the conclusion is clear: this manga deals with good and evil as could make Death Note . Besides the well-pitch notes:
Mirai, a young man who has lost all hope in life is saved by an angel while he attempts suicide. But this fateful meeting could plunge into a deeper despair again … Takeshi Obata and Tsugumi OHBA give us a dark thriller featuring angels and humans around a theme dear to them: the delicate border between Good and Evil .
It is Mirai , with as many other humans with supernatural powers, finds the taste for life . But it looks simple happiness after a painful and lonely past. Now the angels have their own agenda, and humans too, and all are competing for a goal I’ll let you discover. However, Mirai stuck and will have to manage to survive.
If the main character premium annoys First, after some shock in his personal life, everything is found on much more friendly. This is the voice of reason , while the Angel rather ingenue who clearly did not accompany a better notion of a French political reality.
If drawing Obata is still clear, expressive and dynamic (with Mirai missing just one I do not know what in the original design), it is still a bit early to judge the Obhata scenario, which still places his pawns and lists its rules with delight : there is a hierarchy among the angels (which can be changed), and specific powers available According to the case. We already see the intrigues and battles of wits cause repeated reversals.
Hopefully the reputation of the duo allow them to run the business as it wishes without having to extend to commercial reasons impeccable history , as was that of Death Note at the end of the first arc.
You may already Platinum End read chapter by chapter , since that famous reputation also allows Kazé to offer simultaneous translation in 0.99 euros chapter Miscellaneous Support (see minisite Platinum End). Chapter 4 out Thursday, February 4.
It takes courage to read a manga on Kobo, and iBooks that I tried could be improved (but on a tablet is enough nice). Anyway, this is a rare initiative that deserves support.
Otherwise, we will keep you informed as soon as the first volume will be available!
