Getting started with the Archos 2 Diamond Rating, a qHD PHABLET … – Frandroid

Just before the Mobile World Congress opens its doors, Archos was quick to unveil its new smartphones, including 2 Diamond Rating. We had the opportunity to try this more affordable tablet, which seems to find the right compromise between high-end technical features and affordable price.

Archos rarely comes empty-handed in the Barcelona area, but is not particularly accustomed to spring a surprise. This year, however, the French manufacturer has managed to make an impression with its two new smartphones, the Note 2 Diamond and Diamond 2 Plus. If they can easily be overshadowed by the Samsung Galaxy S7 and other LG G5, they do not demerit provided and shows serious qualities, we had the opportunity to put to the test during a grip.

false pretenses bluffing

for the 2 Diamond Rating, Archos has managed to give an impression of ultra premium cost by cheating slightly on certain points. At the front, for example, the smartphone has a 2.5D glass that perfectly mimics the Borderless. Looking more closely, however there, the display itself stops well before that, however, revealing a thin black border on both sides. However, with a dark screen, the feeling is very realistic at first glance. This is felt particularly since, as the last flagships LG, borders framing the top and bottom screen are very thin.

The back cover on it is aluminum, with his horizontal bands with high and low ends, now standard on smartphones of this generation. With his camera lens centered just below the upper boundary, the Diamond 2 Rating could easily pass for a Meizu, including the recent Pro 5′s flash at the same location, just below the camera. Finally, a stylized LED is just below the screen, featuring an original design, and the overall weight of the device (150 grams) is still well below that of the usual PHABLET.

Very fine and fun to learn, there is little to reproach to the design of this smartphone, except to some extent the lack of USB-C port that is nevertheless present on the Diamond 2 More , unveiled the same day.

horses under the hood

But the design of the Diamond 2 rating is not his only quality. It embeds indeed an octa-core MediaTek processor X10 2 GHz coupled with 3GB of RAM, a 6-inch screen with 1440p resolution or a 16 megapixel camera capable of shooting 4K. Moreover, it will be available at its output on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, compatible 4G with two slots for SIM cards, one that can also accommodate a microSD card.

Unfortunately still in development, the Diamond 2 Note that we had the opportunity to try was far from being finalized and it is difficult to decide on its overall performance as the software part is an important part of the experience. It remains very fluid already in use in the state.

In short, with its 2 Diamond rating, the French brand clearly shows its determination to tackle the market for premium smartphones. The question is whether the trial will be transformed when the output of the device, set in May at a suggested price of 300 euros.
