TEST – Samsung Galaxy Note Edge: the price of originality – MetroNews

With the Edge Galaxy Note, Samsung innovates. It adds a bias screen on the edge of the machine to display additional information and features. But is it worth the trip? And does it justify the extra 100 euros compared to the Galaxy Note 4? MetroNews has been tested and delivers his verdict.

Aesthetics 4/5
Nice finish for this smartphone still a bit cumbersome. The curved screen effect is very successful (in fact, there are two screens: the main and the attached sideways on the edge). Apart from this difference – significant – this phone is a Samsung Galaxy Note fairly standard. While it is a little wider than the Galaxy Note 4 (4 mm longer), slightly thicker (0.2 mm) and a tad less high. Despite its chunkier dimensions, the screen itself measures 0.1 inch shorter (5.6 inches). Remains a problem ergonomics for left-handed. Although pale consolation, there is an option to return the phone. The button on the front is now in top and its fate in case of appeal in the mouth.

Performance 5/5
Here, just look at the performance of the Galaxy Note 4 and copy them word for word. We have found no difference between the two models. In short, the performance is very good and the camera absolutely fluid. Note that the camera is quite effective and quality.

Autonomy 4/5 With a battery
3000 mAh against 3220 mAh for the Galaxy Note 4 Note the Edge is a little worse, but without seeing the independence drop drastically (although about 1 hour and 30 mixed use but no differences in single call) and, despite the addition of the second screen. Compared to other smartphones on the market, autonomy is good. The device takes a little more than a day without problems, on average.

3/5 Price
A 849 euros The Galaxy Note Edge 100 euros more than the Note 4 to launch. The second screen he justifies this inflation? In our opinion, no. Of course, we here inherits a second screen but interesting potential for equivalent performance, autonomy is a little worse due to the smaller battery. The means of screen is a good idea but it still lacks application. Rest those (few?) Who agree to add 100 euros apart from other devices on the market. Ultimately, the Edge Note seems more like an exercise in style – successfully – than a really intended to sell in large numbers off

OVERALL RATING: 3.8 / 5.

To: Device well finished, originality through the second screen, main screen AMOLED Super
Against:. Lack of features for the screen on edge, unusable by a left-handed, too expensive compared to Note 4.
