INTERVIEW – Guest on LCI on Monday morning, the deputy mayor of le Havre and door-to-speech by Alain Juppé recalled that nothing was yet lost for the former Prime minister for Chirac, and that this week would be crucial.

Favorite polls a few days before the first election of the primary right and centre, Alain Juppe was eventually overtaken by French prime minister François Fillon. Against all expectations, the former Prime minister of Jacques Chirac received only 28.4% of the votes, or 15.8% less than his opponent. If he acknowledges readily that François Fillon is “very clear favourite” for the moment, the deputy-mayor of le Havre and door-to-speech by Alain Juppé, Edouard Philippe, plays the card of optimism : “I note with hope that the French have a habit of thwarting the forecasts”.

According to him, the week that promises to be “a week of presentation of the projects”, between “two people who feel and respect”. “This is a good debate, he felt on LCI this morning (Monday), it is necessary to have it”. In order to discuss what it takes to “repair the country”. “That is what everybody has to say ?” What are the values ? What ideas ? Both of which are widely known to the general public, Fillon and Juppé will not have to be present, but to expose the length and breadth of their programs.

For his part, Alain Juppe is a “man of the right who believes in the rally, and that is not sectarian,” recalls his colleague. On the night of the results, it was “somewhat combative, impatient and a philosopher”. “I believe he will continue this campaign with the desire to present a program,” that he knows to be feasible.
