Galaxy Note 7: application for a class action quebec 25 M … – The Journal de Québec

A request to bring a class action demanding$ 25M has just been filed by a resident of Quebec, like the company Samsung and its Galaxy phone Note 7, “explosive”.

The action is directed against “all persons domiciled or residing in Quebec who have purchased a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 sold, manufactured, marketed, or distributed by one or other of the defendants”, is it listed in the application for authorization.

According to the class action lawsuit, alleges that the company have suggested that the Note 7, “included the specific characteristics to be functional while this was not the case” and to have “exaggerated the performance of the device”.

The damages claimed are related, among others, “stress, fear and uncertainty related to the risk of fire” and “costs and expenses caused by any defect of the equipment.”

Twenty million dollars are claimed in damages, while$ 5M is requested as punitive damages.
