Mavis Staples released the album “Livin ‘on a High Note” – FIP

In April 2015, came out “ Your Good Fortune ” Jeff Tweety (Leader of Wilco Group), on which you could hear two written original songs by young Aaron Livingston aka Her Little . The icon of the civil rights movements (alongside Martin Luther King) monument and living gospel-soul singing just announced the release of “ Livin ‘on a High Note ” scheduled February 19 on ANTI- Records.

On this new soul monument, Mavis Staples has chosen a more positive repertoire, joyful, less committed. A hymn to life where the singer has invited a host of songwriters to write him the twelve tracks on the album: Neko Case, Justin Vernon, Nick Cave, Ben Harper, Tune-Yards, Aloe Blacc, Benjamin Booker, The Head and the Heart, Ward (who produced the album) and Valerie June for the title “High Note” listen here:

The release of the album “Livin ‘on a High Note” will accompanied by the broadcast on HBO, February 29, the documentary “ Mavis ” directed by Jessica Edwards and recounting the extraordinary destiny of the artist Stax:

Mavis Staples is one of those artists who have made American popular music. Born in 1939 in Chicago, the youngest of the Staples siblings will long sing gospel then this mixture of soul, country, blues and R & amp; B alongside The Staples Singer led by the father Roebuck “Pops” Staples. The active group from 1948 to 1994 known success in the 60s and 70s with titles like “I’ll Take You There”, “Respect Yourself”, “The Weight” or “Let’s Do It Again”.
