A generous notes – South West

L

es singers Gaztelu Zahar offer a concert at St Vincent tomorrow night, 21 hours. Not for them. For Xabi and the Zurekin association which supports since an ATV accident rendered him tetraplegic in 2014.

Hervé Lasbignes had no difficulty in convincing his friends to organize this choristers exceptional concert. He sang with them for a long time and most importantly, he knows Xabi Leroy. “I was a gym teacher at Irandatz college when he had his accident. “But Lasbignes Hervé prefers the name of PE teacher, Physical Education. “The word education is important and contains certain fundamental values that we teach not step over activities that make us closer to the students. “

Former rugby player, Hervé Lasbignes knows the sense of effort, solidarity, and transcendence. “I am severe and uncompromising,” he warns with a smile that hints, in an impressive physique, a caring commitment to its students and a passion unalterable profession, which is revealed fully with its initiative.

Today, Xabi Leroy spent his brevet and continued his education at Maurice Ravel High School Saint-Jean-de-Luz. His friends, his family, his teachers, surround it in its new course and Zurekin association is also with him.

Zurekin, “with you” in Basque, is a non-profit organization founded in January 2013, on the initiative of a dozen members of Urkirolak triathlon club. It aims to provide assistance tailored to people with motor impairment, following an accident in connection with a sports activity. The association is mobilizing to improve their environment so they can live as fully as possible.

Many actions

The first mission was to help Zurekin Thomas, a young triathlete of 17, suffered a serious accident during training, 30 in December 2012, after which he became a quadriplegic. In May 2014, members welcomed Xabi Leroy. They know that, like Thomas, he needs all their help to alleviate some of the expenses, not always supported by the organizations.

So the actions multiply, and manage to improve the situation and daily life of their protected.

The college Irandatz is obviously attached to the initiative: “The flyers announcing the concert were annexed to bulletins endnotes quarter,” warns Hervé Lasbignes.

Xabi will be present tomorrow at the Saint-Vincent church. Madame Dubois, headmaster of Irandatz college, now adapted to handicap college, will speak before letting the singers give the best of themselves, as usual, of course, but perhaps with a sense of more.

Iñaki Diegues, the choir director, chose the directory. Christmas songs, popular songs but also some new features for this concert is also tinged with a sporty touch.
