Standard & Poor’s confirmed the rating of the Congo to “B- / B”, with … – Ecofin Agency

(Ecofin Agency) – The rating agency Standard & amp; Poor’s (S & amp; P) announced on February 13, have confirmed the long-term rating and short-term Democratic Republic of Congo in foreign currency and local currency respectively to ‘B- / B “.

This assessment was accompanied by a stable outlook.

S & amp; told P that keeping notes of Congo is driven by the rapid economic growth of the country, moderate stock of external debt and a low budget deficit.

Among the weaknesses, the agency cites “ low income levels, poor governance, persistent threat of political instability and large external imbalances . “

According to S & amp; P, stable outlook ratings assigned to the Congo reflects the continued rapid economic growth and modest outstanding debt, in a context of political and institutional fragility, low level of GDP per capita and a largely dependent economic model of the mining sector.
