Since its first release in 2011, the great Samsung Galaxy Note format has not changed much phone. There is a small improvement here, hence an interesting novelty. Over the years, this quiet evolution has allowed Samsung to turn what started as a curiosity in an established brand. Here is a tested for the best smartphone from Samsung so far.

Design

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is one of the first Samsung phones to take advantage of the new design unveiled this summer by the Korean company. From the front, the device looks identical to its predecessor, with the same screen size (5.7 inches), rounded corners and a large central button. However,

The unit is equipped with a new metallic finish on the sides, which gives a good impression of strength when the phone is held in his hand. At the rear, Samsung retains its plastic cover faux leather without its border against false by.

The result is still quite successful. The design of the Galaxy Note 4 is just enough to give a new breath of fresh air to appreciate the range, but just enough similar to the Note 3 to the unit falls within a certain continuity.

Features and performance

One of the main innovations of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is its Super AMOLED screen which now offers a qHD resolution (2560 by 1440). The screen also offers rich colors, excellent brightness and much larger than the real needs of users impressive accuracy, likely even, actually.

One would regret such a choice screen if it had damaged the phone’s standby, but fortunately this is not the case. The large stack of 3220 mAh is more than enough to allow the unit to operate for more than one day. In passing, note that the phone can be charged to 50% in just 30 minutes, which is certainly considerable morning where we forgot to plug in the device.

Another great improvement was made to the camera on the back of the Galaxy Note 4. It is now equipped with a 16-megapixel sensor with optical stabilization. This is the same sensor as the Samsung Galaxy S5, but the mechanism of optical stabilization should provide better pictures in low light.

The front camera has also been improved, with a sensor 3.7 megapixels, but the quality of the photos left me a little on my hunger because of image processing too pushed by the camera. The front camera of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is also the perfect example that the amount of megapixels often has nothing to do with the quality of photos.

Among other features of the device, note that this is one of the most powerful Android phones on the market, with a processor with four cores clocked at 2.7 GHz, 3 GB of RAM and an internal capacity of 32 GB. We also note the stack removable phone and its SD card slot.

Some of the new Samsung Galaxy S5 were finally implemented on the Note 4 as a fingerprint reader (less successful than Apple has the advantage that it can be used with one hand and to be more precise) and a heart rate sensor. Note that it also now able oxygen saturation of the blood.

Enhanced

Like its predecessors, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is finally equipped with an S Pen, which was further enhanced this year.

The stylus, which can be slipped into the casing of the phone when we do not use it, notably allows to write and draw with great precision, since now recognizes up to 2048 pressure points. It can also be used, for example, to take notes on a screenshot or copy an image easily end.

Personally, I particularly like the stylus to copy or highlight text, since the process is so much easier than his fingers.

According to Samsung, 50% of users would use the Galaxy Note S Pen at least once per day. It seems a bit much – I personally use more than once a week, and again – but in all cases it is subtle when stored in the phone. It is therefore not a disadvantage either

Software. Samsung improves quietly

On the software side, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is equipped with Android 4.4 Kitkat, with a house of Samsung interface.

As always, Samsung offers a thousand and more often unnecessary features and applications, but the Korean company seems to have controlled a little more than usual this year.

Many of the functions are now hidden in the phone settings, and not imposed on the user, and the company has even replaced some of its most popular applications by software. The messaging application ChatON Samsung for example, was replaced by WhatsApp, much more practical for the vast majority of people.

There are even some good shots of Samsung, including control of the phone with one hand. For example, it is possible to display the software buttons on the side of the phone to replace the physical buttons on the device, and it is possible to completely reduce interface Note 4 in a slip of the finger.

Thanks to the excellent resolution of the screen Galaxy Note 4, the small virtual phone that appears is easy to read, and left love the opportunity to position left or right of the screen.

Note that the phone keypad can also be reduced and positioned to be used with one hand.

If you like the size
Samsung has created a new kind of phone in 2011, with the launch of the original Galaxy Note. Since then, virtually all manufacturers have launched their own “Phablet”, hoping to repeat the success of Samsung.

Meanwhile, the Korean company has increased its unit iterations, constantly improving its components, adding new features and returning back when needed. The fourth generation of the Galaxy Note offers no surprise, but it is a powerful and successful unit.

The large formats phones are not for everyone, but those looking for a device of this size will undoubtedly appreciate the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is available today from $ 250 to $ 330 with a 2 year agreement with major Canadian operators and $ 750 to $ 800 without a contract.
