Samsung will finally be able to turn the page and move on to something else. The Korean authorities have carefully considered the findings of the investigation on the Galaxy Note 7 and they have confirmed the conclusions of the mark. For them, the battery of the device was at fault.
The phablet Korean had something for everyone. A neat design, a technical sheet promising, intelligent features and good thoughts… The device was promised to a very bright future, but not everything has not gone exactly as planned.
The Galaxy Note 7 has, in fact, very soon showed signs of overheating and many users have even been confronted with explosions.
The Galaxy Note 7 was promised to a bright future
Samsung has been resulted in a real downward spiral. The company began by launching the first reminder, but the latter has not had the desired effect. The replacement models had the same defects. For lack of any alternative, the brand has decided to put a definitive end to the production of his telephone.
This failure has cost him dearly, particularly in terms of image. The firm has therefore conducted a survey background in order to shed light on this great fiasco of technology. Hundreds of engineers were mobilized and many tests have been conducted.
She then held a press conference to publicly present the findings of the investigation. Having a hard time, but necessary to restore the image of the company.
Relatively dense, the report referred to two problems caused by problems both in connection with the battery terminal.
Two problems caused in connection with the battery
Samsung SDI was the first to commit an error. In order to get the batteries in the housing of the terminal, the subsidiary of Samsung has in effect voluntarily crushed the corners of the room, bringing at the same time its two electrodes.
in the Face of the situation, the Korean giant has cut its production lines, and asked them to ATL to take over on the drums. Only problem, the supplier had not anticipated such a request. In order to better meet its contract, it has accelerated the pace… and botched a part of his work.
Two different problems for the same result, therefore.
The KAT (Korea Agency for Technology and Standards) was not content of this report. She has conducted its own investigation on his side. After conducting a lengthy investigation, it has come to the conclusion that the problem is that many batteries… and not the terminal itself.
in arriving at these conclusions, the agency has appointed 13 experts and asked them to analyze 14 terminals that have caught fire and 46 models which have presented no problems of overheating in particular. In parallel, they also examined 169 batteries supplied by Samsung SDI, and by ATL.
the design of The Galaxy Note 7 is not in question
After you have reviewed the models that have caught fire, experts have noticed that the damage was concentrated around the housing of the battery.
They then focused their attention on the batteries provided by ATL and they have noticed that some of them had a defect : one pin of the anode was clear from his housing. According to them, it is a flaw that is at the origin of the second wave of explosions suffered by the Galaxy Note 7.
The batteries supplied by Samsung SDI did not better unfortunately. They had also a defect. The corners had been crushed… or depressed.
The fault in the design ? Obviously not. The experts of the KAT have taken on the dimensions of the device, its components and of the accommodation assigned to the battery. By compiling all this information, they have realized that the Galaxy Note 7 provided a ratio of free space equivalent to that of the Galaxy S7 Edge at the level of the battery. They therefore deduced that the problem came from the battery itself.
Samsung is out of the question ? Not at all. In fact, based on the report submitted by the organization, this fiasco would have perfectly been avoided if the brand is Korean had put in place procedures to control more flare-ups. Interestingly, it was specifically made for the Galaxy S8 and it is precisely for this reason that the terminal will not be ready in time for the World Mobile Congress.
