Disassembly iFixit’s Nexus 5X: a note of repairability but … – Phonandroid

Now in the hands of the major American sites, the Nexus 5X just undergone the test of disassembly iFixit. Test at the end of which he earned a repairability score of 7/10.

Like any new flagship model, the Nexus 5X just suffered its traditional removal. A necessary step for judging both the design quality and level of repairability of the product. He will be able to replace User himself a broken screen or a defective battery? It is to these questions that will try to answer this disassembly.

Overall, once the device open, most of the components we found inside are modular and therefore easy to disconnect , disassemble and replace. Nothing like a Galaxy S6 whose battery is nearly impossible to replace or HTC One M9. The Nexus 5X however gets a score of 7/10 repairability is one point less than the first Nexus 5 was left rather easily removable or that the LG G4 whose back cover and the battery is removable, something Google phones are unfortunately deprived.

Reason why it only gets a grade of 7/10 because its design has its flaws. The battery is not immediately accessible to the user, after removing the back cover. In addition, the glass and the LCD panel are sealed, requiring the user to replace the two in case of breakage or malfunction. Furthermore, the port USB Type C is sealed to the motherboard , requiring replacement of the two in case of breakage.

In terms of components, we see the Snapdragon processor 808 comes with 2GB RAM LPDDR3 manufactured by Samsung. As for the photo sensor of 12.3 megapixels, there is a Sony IMX377 model that also at the heart of the Nexus 6P and, as we have already seen, is devoid of optical OIS stabilization.
