Xiaomi redmi Note 3 – CNET France

We have always been a fan of mobile phone Xiaomi and redmi Note 3 is no exception. It might even become our preferred model of this brand. There are two reasons for this: the new chassis that passes from plastic to metal and very affordable. In France, one can find this smartphone at around 150-200 euros on the Internet.

In general the entry-level smartphones are cutting back on storage. This is not the case of redmi Note 3 that offers 32GB and also allows to use one of the two SIM card slots as a micro SD memory card reader to add an additional 32 GB. The performance is excellent, with smooth navigation in the interface between applications as well as video games. Another plus, the device has a removable battery that on our video playback test loop was 14 hours, which is quite respectable.

regarding the software part, we find the house MIUI interface that customizes version 5.1 of Android Lollipop. No storage drawer for applications on Android as “pure”, but a breakdown on as many home screens as necessary, like iOS. We appreciate being able to move all applications from one screen to another and the weekly security updates. Although we do not find the Android original style, the MIUI interface makes good use thanks to a “Lite” mode that will suit novices.

The only thing we n ‘have not at all appreciated is the camera of redmi Note 3. It is too slow and does not provide automatic HDR mode. We also met trouble with the exhibition with darker images in reality, unless manually change settings before taking a photo. Not really crippling defects but they make it a little less pleasant use.

Although it is slightly heavier than a high-end smartphone, the redmi Note 3 is still comfortable to hold in hand. And once back at our official phone at the end of this test, we quickly regretted his fingerprint reader on the back of the hull. Really, this smartphone is an excellent deal.
