The Bank of France noted a deceleration of growth – the Tribune.fr

It now expects more than 0.2%. The Bank of France lowered by 0.1 points its French economic growth forecast for the second quarter 2016, in its second estimate based on its monthly business survey for May released Wednesday.

In industry, business leaders interviewed for the monthly survey suggest a continued increase in industrial production in May, especially in the equipment sector. The production is part however declined in the automotive and chemicals. According to their testimony, shipments and order books were healthy but prices for finished goods fell slightly. The production capacity utilization rate rises slightly to 78.5% against 78.0% in April.

The service activities have meanwhile risen sharply, with the exception of accommodation and catering, and transport, and activity should continue to increase in June. If the construction industry has seen a rebound in both the wholesale and the second work sector business leaders expect a slight decline in activity in June.

The forecast French central bank for the current quarter is below that of the INSEE in its latest monthly report published in March, which was 0.4%. These figures mark a deceleration from the growth of gross domestic product (GDP) of France in the first quarter, revised up to + 0.6% (against 0.5% previously) last week by the National Institute of statistique.La the Bank of France expected a rise in gross domestic product of 0.3%.
