Death Note : The writer compares the movie to a classic of the cinema – MCM News

in Spite of the doubts that one may have on the movie Death Note recovered by Netflix, it should be acknowledged that he seems credible on several points. Apart from the actors in the skin of Yagami Raito (Nat Wolff) and Misa (Margaret Qualley), the casting seems to be interesting but most of all, Adam Wingard, the director of the film, does not simply make a manga adaptation : it wants to make a feature-length film worthy of the classic film. During an interview with the magazine Collider, Jeremy Slater, the writer of Death Note, is expressed on the script he has written. According to him, the Death Note would be similar to the movie Heat.

Heat is a cult film dating back to 1995. This full-length film pits a gang leader played by Robert de Niro with a police officer played by Al Pacino. Following an investigation, the lives of these two protagonists will mingle to create twists and turns never imagined. According to Jeremy Slater, the big difference between Heat and Death Note will be obviously the book but also the fight between teenagers rather than adults.. Adam Wingard, the director, has commented on the fact that Death Note is Rated R. According to him : “The film is disturbing and completely insane by now.” It is everything that we hope for.
