Although the user did not specify which hotel he found the note, it is written on paper with the letterhead of the hotel chain Courtyard by Marriott.
A spokesman for Marriott told the Huffington Post that the British chain takes hygiene and cleanliness “very seriously”. Obviously, it is possible that this whole thing is a bad joke … We will continue to expect very strong.
The publication prompted hundreds of other travelers to share their experiences in unsanitary hotel rooms on Reddit. Some stories are disturbing.
