China sends a note to the UN chief to clarify the situation … – China Radio International

A Chinese envoy sent a note Monday to Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, with documents showing the provocation of Vietnam and China’s position vis-à-vis the Xisha Islands in the South China Sea .

“Such actions also undermine the freedom and safety of navigation in these waters and undermine peace and stability in the region,” Wang said.
 

The Xisha Islands are an inherent part of Chinese territory, he has said.
 

Citing documents, Wang said that before 1974 no Vietnamese governments that have succeeded have defied Chinese sovereignty over the Xisha Islands.
 

“Vietnam officially recognizes the Xisha Islands as part of China’s territory since ancient times,” said Mr. Wang. “This position was reflected in his statements and governmental notes in his diaries, maps and books.”
 

M. Wang also said that China is a staunch force for maintaining peace and stability in the South China Sea and to promote cooperation and development in the region.
 

China wants good relations with Vietnam, but there are principles to which China can not give up, he has said.
 

China urges Vietnam to keep in mind the overall interests of bilateral relations as well as peace and stability in the South China Sea, to respect the sovereignty, sovereign rights and jurisdiction China to stop any form of disturbance Chinese operations and withdraw all its vessels and site staff immediately to ease the tension and restore tranquility to the sea as soon as possible, reiterated Mr. Wang.
