According to the website Mashable, Willem Dafoe has joined the cast of Death Note, American adaptation of the Japanese manga by Netflix. The actor pitched Ryuk’s character.
While filming Death Note – American adaptation of the Japanese manga produced by Netflix – started in early July, its cast continues to grow. The US Mashable has indeed revealed that Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man, soon to appear in Justice League) had just joined the production. It will embody Ruyk, a shinigami accompanying the holder of the Death Note.
Willem Dafoe joins a cast currently consisting of Nat Wolff (Light), Margaret Qualley (Mia), Keith Stanfield (L) and Shea Whigham in the role of James Turner. Adam Wingard ( You’re Next, the Guest ) is directing.
Death Note is the adaptation of Tsugumi Ohba and manga Takeshi Obata, which tells the story of a high school student who falls on a supernatural book, which contains great power; if the name is registered someone whose face is known, that person dies. But soon the young man is overwhelmed by this power and begins killing those he deems unworthy of life. The film is expected to hit Netflix current 2017
