Tokyo Stock Exchange: Nikkei opens on a negative note – The Point

The Nikkei index of the Tokyo Stock Exchange opened down lègère Tuesday, after a loss of nearly 2% Monday, due to a rise in the yen and the cautious attitude of investors who expect monetary tightening in the US

In the first minute of trading, the Nikkei 225 blue chips yielded 0.08% (-14.38 points) to 18,869.04 points.

The broader Topix index of all securities in the first table on the other hand lost 0.02% to 1527.59 point (-0.29 point).

On the foreign exchange component, the dollar was displayed at 121 yen against 121.20 yen at the close Monday, while the euro rose to 133 yen
