Galaxy Note 8 : what is expected of the next phablet of Samsung – Presse-citron

Samsung has confirmed this week the arrival of a Galaxy Note 8 in 2017. Here is what is expected of the next smartphone XXL Samsung.

Galaxy Note 8

After several months of investigation, Samsung has explained and confirmed earlier this week that the batteries were indeed at the origin of explosions from the Galaxy Note 7. A way for the brand in south korea to turn the page of a the end of the year 2016, a catastrophic, which has tainted the image of the world number one. It is also the opportunity to start on the offensive, confirming that the Galaxy Note series was going to survive the fiasco of the Note 7 with the launch of a Galaxy Note 8 which is expected to be introduced in August or September.

waiting for its release, we decided to unveil what is expected of the next phablet of Samsung.

The 4K display for virtual reality

smartphones with a 4K display are not commonplace on the market, but it has to be said that this type of display is not useful on a daily basis and we could check during our test of the Z5 Premium. However, there is one area where the presence of 4K on smartphones is justified, it is the one of the virtual reality.

A booming market where Samsung is particularly present with its headset Gear VR. The latter has established itself as the reference on the market of virtual reality mobile and it is hard to see Samsung do not enjoy it. High-end Smartphone, the Galaxy Note 8 would therefore be of interest to land with a 4K display and it falls well, the latest rumors point in this direction.

performance with the Snapdragon 835

Considered to be a niche market, the phablet has gradually imposed among users, and the Galaxy Note series is no stranger to this popularity. For Samsung, the recipe is simple : a smartphone EQUIPPED with a stylus and a technical data sheet top of the range.

The Galaxy Note 8 should not deviate from the rule and will what is the best or almost on the market, starting with a SoC high-end. The Snapdragon 835 Qualcomm is presented as the most powerful system-on-chip for mobile at the moment and it seems to have caught the eye of Samsung.

The giant south Korean company has decided to deprive its competitors of this processor is very powerful up to the release of the Galaxy S8 and we can see the Galaxy Note 8 enjoy him too.

A dual photo sensor to meet the competition

During its short existence, the Galaxy Note 7 has still taken the time to impress the testers and especially the camera part. Samsung has not had to look far, as the Galaxy S7 has established itself as one of the best photophones of the year and the number of global has returned to the same sensor.

The results were very good but the competition has come a long way and the dual sensor is in the mode. If the results are not (yet) necessarily in line with the expectations, the potential is there and Samsung will not take too much delay on the competition.

With one or two modules photos, the Note 8 is likely to be on the camera part but there is hope that Samsung will look to impress after the fiasco of the Note 7.

More storage with a model 256 Gb

Despite the competition from china, Apple and Samsung still dominate the global market of smartphones and devices top of the range remain a major challenge for its two giants. Apple took the iPhone 7 to finally increase the storage capacity and now offers a model up to 256 Gb, the same is expected from Samsung.

indeed, even if the presence of a microSD slot would allow to expand the storage capacity, it hopes to have the right to a release, the 256 Gb of the Note 8. After all, a smartphone XXL must also have a storage capacity of XXL.

new features for the S-Pen

The Galaxy Note series now has competition in terms of dimensions and performance. One thinks in particular of the Huawei Mate 9 that has the qualities to claim the honorary title of king of the phablets running since the withdrawal of the Note 7 but they are few, many of which offer a stylus.

A peculiarity that the Note 8 must maintain, it is hoped that the S-Pen will be entitled to new features.

S-Pen

Less explosive than its predecessor

of course we hope for Samsung and above all the users that the Note 8 will rhyme not with explosion and accident. Ambitious, the Note 7 was the means of exploding many records, but he finally exploded in a literal sense.

Samsung owes us a rematch with the Galaxy Note 8 and will be without doubt the heart to recover its title as the king of the phablets running. We just hope that the price of the Note 8 does not accrue to explode.

Find the strong points of the range Note

The scanner of the iris had made her come on the Galaxy Note 7 and if his interest seemed limited compared to the fingerprint reader, it would be curious to see the improvements made by Samsung and ready to give him a second chance (we don’t really have the time to enjoy it on the Note 7).

Finally, it is hoped that Samsung will keep the microSD port and the mini jack plug that are always very appreciated by the users. Another good point, the presence of a removable battery, but there is little chance to see Samsung go back on this decision and the Note 8 should therefore be entitled to a non-removable battery, as its predecessor.

Philippines : taxes on the rise to preserve the note – The Echoes

Carlos Dominguez, the philippine secretary of Finance, is putting the finishing touches to a new fiscal package, which should increase the revenue of 163 billion pesos (3.05 billion euros). After a first rejection in September, motivated by the increase of taxes on fuels and the automobile, the Parliament will have to examine, before the end of the quarter, a new version of the text. the ” It is a game of poker; we’ll have to find a ‘common ground’, recently indicated that the Finance secretary.

Supposed to compensate for the promises of concessions made by Rodrigo Duterte during his election campaign , this tax package has a strategic dimension. He must avoid the country to be demoted into the category ” speculative “, a risk which weighs heavily on the Philippines if the parliament had again rejected the text. Gold Manila wants to avoid this descent in the rankings for two reasons. Already, because the Philippines has obtained, for the first time in their history, to the rank of” investment ” credit rating agencies under the presidency of Benigno Aquino , the predecessor of Duterte. Secondly, and most importantly, because the authorities need to raise funds to finance the $ 160 billion of infrastructure projects that the country wants to accomplish in the next five years. This, while maintaining the budget deficit below 3 % of GDP. In the absence of new tax revenues, expenditure related to infrastructure will need to be pushed in the time. The schedule is tight, because the financial situation of the archipelago remains tense. S & P was launched last week, a first alert.

mine Closure

Even if the economy is not in danger – the growth is in a range of 6.5% to 7 % -, the directions of the new administration are less likely to significantly alter the recipes by depriving the budget of a portion of the fees it collected until then.

This is the case, in particular, with the closure of several mines. The Philippines come to revoke the licenses of four mining projects deemed harmful to the environment, including that of a nickel mine on Mindoro island, in the centre of the archipelago. The minister of the Environment and natural Resources, Regina Lopez, had already cancelled three projects of nickel mines last month, with the support of president Rodrigo Duterte. During his inauguration, in June, found that the Philippines, the world’s largest nickel producer, could survive without the mining industry, highly polluting. At this stage of the campaign, the government’s environmental powers, especially the uncertainty on the ore production of the archipelago, which explains in part the rise in the world price of nickel.

Unemployment: 2016, the year of the reversal, ends on a note of bitter – The Point

Despite a bad month of December, the inversion of the unemployment curve, as promised by François Hollande, is beautiful and well-substantiated in 2016, Pôle emploi, recording its first annual decline since 2007.

last year, the number of unemployed dropped by 107.400 people (-3,0%) in metropolitan france, according to figures from the ministry of Labour. The indicator had declined on a calendar year since the financial crisis.

“This trend is clearly favourable”, welcomed Myriam El Khomri in a press release, the minister of Labour in welcoming the improvement that comes “after eight consecutive years of increase”.

2016 will have been the year of “the inversion of the unemployment curve”, but the results came in later than I had planned”, conceded François Hollande during his New Year’s greetings, a month after leaving to stand for a second mandate. Originally announced for 2013, the famous “reversal” will be finally materialized three years later.

Despite the recent improvement, unemployment is a black spot of the last five years : it remains massive, with 3.47 million people without activity (category A) in metropolis and 3.73 million in the whole of France, and Pôle emploi has seen an influx 550.300 additional unemployed persons in metropolitan france since may 2012.

“The unemployment remains high, and it is my fight,” said Ms. El Khomri on Tuesday during a move a company in the Val-de-Marne, where it was greeted by a score of activists CGT protesting against his law work.

Although positive, the year 2016 is somewhat tarnished by the increase recorded in December, following three consecutive months of decline. Last month, unemployment has increased 0.8% (+26.100) in france and 0.7% (+25.900) including overseas.

“We are still in a recovery period, with new hires, who are overwhelmingly in CDD. This yo-yo effect is not yet finished,” says one to the ministry of Labour.

- the Scars of the crisis -

The monthly increase applies to both the “under 25″ (+0,7%) than the “50 years or more” (+1,2%). But the situation of young people remains very well oriented in 2016 (-8,8%), while that of senior citizens continues to deteriorate (+2.2 per cent). For the latter, the degradation is much less strong than in previous years. Between 2008 and 2015, the number of older unemployed workers had nearly tripled (+182%).

The poor figures for December are to be qualified by a decrease in the use of precarious contracts. The number of students enrolled in classes B and C, who carry on an activity but continue to look for work, decreased by 1.3% on the month, to settle at $ 2.0 million metropolis. They remain all the same, an increase of 5.5% on the year.

Philippe Martinez (SGC) saw on Europe 1 “a willingness to generalize the insecurity”. He also pointed out that the increase in the number of job seekers in training, related to the implementation of the plan of 500.000 further education and training for job seekers, that would be a way to “offload to other categories of employees who were not employed”.

“It is rather a stabilisation than a real inversion of the curve,” said Jean-Claude Mailly (FO) on BFM Business, judging the recovery is “very fragile”.

“There is much to an inversion of the curve, but this does not erase the scars of the crisis”, analysis, Bruno Ducoudré, economist at the OFCE, but “for the moment, this decline was due primarily to a recovery of precarious employment.”

in 2017, its observatory “expect a continuation of the decline, at least in the first quarter, but beyond that, it is a little complicated to make predictions, because this will depend on the future president and his program.”

Nine years after the financial crisis, the labour market is far from healing. The publication of the figures Pole employment coincides with the announcement of a new restructuring plan of the group Vivarte, with between 700 and 800 job cuts, just at the Halle aux shoes, and a relocation in Poland factory Whirlpool Amiens.

2016 will thus have been the year of the “inversion of the unemployment curve”, but the results came in later than I had planned”, conceded François Hollande during his New Year’s greetings, a month after leaving to stand for a second mandate. Originally announced for 2013, the famous “reversal” will be finally materialized three years later.

Despite the recent improvement, unemployment remains a black point in the quinquennium : it remains massive, with 3.47 million people without activity (category A) in metropolis and 3.73 million in the whole of France, and Pôle emploi has seen an influx 550 300 additional unemployed persons in metropolitan france since may 2012. “Unemployment remains high, and it is my fight,” said Ms. El Khomri on Tuesday during a move a company in the Val-de-Marne, where it was greeted by a score of activists CGT protesting against the law Work.

The number of students enrolled in classes B and C, who carry on an activity but continue to look for work, decreased by 1.3%, to settle at $ 2.0 million metropolis. Therefore, the number of job seekers registered to Pole employment, small business included, has stabilized in December, to 5.48 million in metropolitan france and 5.78 million in the whole of France. The indicator is also stable throughout the year 2016.

Another encouraging sign: the long-term unemployment declined 0.4% in December and 2.4% over the year. At the end of 2016, 2,41 million job seekers were registered with Pôle emploi for more than a year. The decline in unemployment observed in 2016 is the result of a recovery in private-sector employment. The merchant sector has created, net, 178.700 positions on a year, while the hires flirted the end of 2016, with their record high in 2011. And according to the Insee, employment and unemployment are expected to remain favourable in the first half of 2017. The labour market is, however, far from the healing, at the moment announced a new restructuring plan of the group Vivarte, with between 700 and 800 job cuts, just at the Halle aux shoes, and a relocation in Poland factory Whirlpool Amiens.

The fall seems, moreover, to have been amplified by the effects of the plan of 500 000 further education and training for job seekers, launched in early 2016 by the government and extended until mid-2017. By entering into training, job seekers are no longer considered to be unemployed and spend categories A, B and C to the category D, much less commented on it. The latter has seen an influx 67 400 additional people (+24,6%) in 2016.

Don’t panic : despite the combustions of the Galaxy Note 7, the … – ZDNet France

Samsung has unveiled the results of its survey on the reasons for which its smartphone Galaxy Note 7 has started to explode shortly after launch, and the measures taken by the manufacturer to prevent such an accident.

All this is welcome, but these events must be put in perspective : batteries, ion lithium batteries used in smartphones, tablets, laptops and countless other devices shows a very high level of safety.

last year, some 1.5 billion smartphones have been sold in the world. Each of these devices contains a battery. And this figure does not include laptops, tablets, and other devices incorporating a battery (with the exception of hoverboards, which seemed to suffer from the same problem of precipitation at the origin of the sinking of the Note 7).

And yet, apart from the Galaxy Note 7 and some other problems are more minor and less dramatic, which have led to recalls, most of these devices had no problem and were completely safe.

In fact, the battery technology is already incredibly safe. And this is all the more surprising, seeing how people treat their devices, exposing them to large fluctuations in temperature, leaving them plugged in for long periods of time, using third-party chargers, and exposing the terminals to shocks and pressures, almost every day.

And in many ways, this fact makes the difficulties of the Galaxy Note 7 even more disturbing. Samsung has failed where other players – giants such as Apple products without a brand of portable batteries – seem to have no problem.

As someone who has been witness to several fires battery, some deliberate, others unintended, I have a healthy respect for all of this electric power that we carry in our pockets and our bags. I know too well what panic would now me if a battery was losing the pedals during my sleep or in the car on the highway.

Fortunately this does not happen often.

That said, the measures adopted by Samsung are welcome, and it is my hope that they are applied by all manufacturers of batteries (and taking into account the benefits that Samsung has had to face, I expect that other actors deploy the same security measures). As the finesse of the terminals increases and the tolerance of the battery is reduced, a better design becomes more and more important.
